my techniques:
#1. Don't smear paint on your hand!!
#2. Don't use too many colors, it can get really messy, my picture below used only 3 colors- black, cool blue and white.
#3. Never lose your patience! And don't over do it. If a painting is bothering you leave it and come back to it after you have calmed down and thought about how it can be improved.
#4. Make your picture stands out, try to use as little black as you can, and sometimes it can be good to choose a 'theme color' for example- my blue tiger. And when Painting an animal or a person be sure to always make him/her look bright or happy, give them a deep meaningful expression that tells a story, don't make it to be in pain, only emos like depressing pictures, unless of course your going for a meaningful picture.
#5. Use objects other than just the paint brush to make your work, fingers can be used for smudging and paper creases can be used for fine details. Use your imagination
