Wood Duck

2nd picture, a wood duck in flight. I know that green goes good with the ducks feathers so i gave a green night background. I think i did a better job on my tiger.

Blue tiger

Hi! This is my first oil on canvas painting, if there is anyone who hasn't tried oil painting yet and think it can't be that hard is wrong- it is in fact very tricky.

my techniques:
#1. Don't smear paint on your hand!!

#2. Don't use too many colors, it can get really messy, my picture below used only 3 colors- black, cool blue and white.

#3. Never lose your patience! And don't over do it. If a painting is bothering you leave it and come back to it after you have calmed down and thought about how it can be improved.

#4. Make your picture stands out, try to use as little black as you can, and sometimes it can be good to choose a 'theme color' for example- my blue tiger. And when Painting an animal or a person be sure to always make him/her look bright or happy, give them a deep meaningful expression that tells a story, don't make it to be in pain, only emos like depressing pictures, unless of course your going for a meaningful picture.

#5. Use objects other than just the paint brush to make your work, fingers can be used for smudging and paper creases can be used for fine details. Use your imagination

if you need help, I'm on msn.

here's my painting, i will make 5 more and submit it to the under age section of the local gallery.
don't hesitate to comment! as long as it's constructive I'm all ears.
